Does light roast vs dark roast affect caffeine content?

Here’s the plot twist: not by much.
Roasting doesn’t really burn off caffeine, what changes is the bean’s density. Light roast beans are denser, so if you measure by weight, caffeine levels are almost identical. If you measure by scoop (volume), light roast might give you slightly more caffeine, because you’re packing in more bean mass.
The real difference? Flavour. Light roasts are bright, acidic and fruity; dark roasts are bold, bitter and chocolatey. Choose the roast for taste, not because you think one will send you into orbit faster.
