Short answer: it depends. Long answer: it really depends.
A standard 250ml cup of filter coffee clocks in anywhere from 80–120mg of caffeine, while a double shot of espresso usually hits around 120–150mg. But your caffeine dose isn’t just about cup size, it’s influenced by the bean variety, roast level, grind size and how you brew.
Cold brew? Usually higher caffeine per ml (slow extraction means mega caffeine pull), but you’re often diluting it with ice or milk. Espresso? Smaller but more concentrated. And that massive 20oz takeaway filter? Yeah, you’re basically surfing a caffeine tsunami.
Rule of thumb: if you’re chasing a buzz, go for more coffee volume, not just 'stronger' taste.
